Antibodies and immunoreactants in sera and skin biopsies of 55 autoimmune vesiculobullous disease patients (47 with bullous pemphigoid (BP), 4 with epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA), 2 with adult linear IgA disease (adult LAD) and 2 with chronic bullous disease of childhood (CBDC)) are examined by direct and indirect immunofluorescence. Linear IgG and C3 deposits at basement membrane zone (dermoepidermal junction) were found in 93.62% of BP patients and 100% of EBA patients. Linear IgA and/or C3 deposits at basement membrane zone were found in all of the adult LAD and CBDC patients. Circulating IgG anti-basement membrane antibodies were found in 87.23% of BP patients and 50% of EBA patients. IgA antibasement membrane zone antibodies were detected in all of the CBDC patients. The positive finding of the immunoreactants in skin biopsies and circulating antibodies in sera were statically different for BP and EBA patients (p < 0.05), while they were indifferent for CBDC patients (p > 0.05).
